3rd Graders created their own Leaf Dot Art paintings inspired by the aboriginal dot artists from Australia! Check out their beautiful patterns and hidden symbols!
Tar Beach Story Quilts
Students created a mixed media collage inspired by Faith Ringgold's narrative quilt Tar Beach. In the story the main character dreams that she flies over the city and ends up owning the buildings. 3rd graders thought about what buildings they would like to own and created their own city which they would be flying over. The fabric squares around their narratives resemble the fabric Faith uses in her story quilts!
3rd Graders applied the elements of design to their Sandra Silberzweig inspired portraits. We also discussed analogous color schemes and they applied them to their pictures.
Amate Bark Painting
Check out these beautiful paintings inspired by the folk art created in Mexico! These amate bark paintings are traditionally painted on the bark from amate trees and show themes of flora and fauna. Students created their paintings using these same themes and fluorescent paint.
