Young Fives get a chance in the Art Room to explore a variety of materials! Each week they learn a new skill and how to take care of the materials. They get a freedom of choice and learn through play and experimentation!
The drawing center in the art room was taught to the young five students through a project using the book "The Dot". They were able to make their own dot on a paper plate using the drawing materials. Students learned how to independently get these materials, use them appropriately, and and put away correctly. Check out their lovely dots below!

Y5's used pipe cleaners to stamp their snowflakes with white paper and glitter!
Color Zoo Masks
Our Y5 artists created animal masks out of shapes! This lesson was inspired by the author Lois Ehlert who wrote the book "Color Zoo". The Y5 students have been learning about this author in their library special and reading other stories by her! This lesson had the students think creatively with shapes to create an animal face!
