3rd Graders created their own Leaf Dot Art paintings inspired by the aboriginal dot artists from Australia! Check out their beautiful patterns and hidden symbols!
Example Australian Aboriginal Dot Art Painting
Tar Beach
Students created a mixed media collage inspired by Faith Ringgold's narrative quilt Tar Beach. In the story the main character dreams that she flies over the city and ends up owning the buildings. 3rd graders thought about what buildings they would like to own and created their own city which they would be flying over. The fabric squares around their narratives resemble the fabric Faith uses in her story quilts!

Kierce's 3rd grade independent project!
3rd graders in Kierce's class created their own independent project. The only requirement was to use the same materials as the 2nd graders which was crayons and watercolors and they could create their own image. These 3rd graders showed their knowledge of color mixing in this assignment. Check out their beautiful work!
Sandra Silberzweig Portraits
3rd Graders applied the elements of design to their Sandra Silberzweig inspired portraits. We also discussed analogous color schemes and they applied them to their pictures.
Sandra is a contemporary artist from Canada. The image to the left is one of her paintings.
